There have been many hotly anticipated apps that are now available for Windows like Flipboard, Mint.com and Instagram; along with many top Canadian apps like RBC, The Weather Network, TSN and CBC News.
However, many Canadian independent and start-up developers have also been busy producing world class apps. I wanted to take moment to recognize them and share their creations with you. Hope you enjoy their apps and more importantly hope you enjoy the holiday season.

Monster Stack and Health Pack Games is making waves with this app. They were one of the select developers chosen for the AppCampus program. Monster Stack 3 is a unique physics based game that support HD graphics. This app features over 30 hand crafted levels, including some with ice and snowmen. Try out the hundreds of user created levels for hours of enjoyment.

This app from Onomatop, based in Montreal, shows off live tiles, push notification, and in-app payments. Have your friends guess the correct word to win by using your voice and the sounds around you as clues. Choose one of 3 words randomly selected and use the built-in recorder to describe the word. Then send the sound to your friend and have them solve it. Easy as that. This app is perfect to play with family and friends over the holidays, even if you’re not in the same province or country.

What’s cool about this app, is that David built this in his spare time (he’s actually a professional developer by trade, but an app enthusiast at heart). Whistler Info provides all the information you need for your next big trip. This app allows users to determine current lift and weather conditions as well as forecast them in advance. New features are constantly being added such as the ability to pin lift zones and snow reports for easy access on your Windows phone.

Denham Software has a nice repertoire of apps on both Windows 8 and Windows Phone. One of our favorites for the holidays is Christmas Hunt. Beautiful artwork helps bring this game to life and would put anyone in the mood for the holiday season. Fun for the whole family, especially younger children!
